Week 3 - Meme

My students took the NWEA test this week and I had one student almost in tears over the types of questions she was getting. Now that it's all over and she absolutely crushed the test, we can make light of the situation. Poor girl though! I have already shared this with my cooworkers who experience this with their students at any grade level. We all sympathize with our students who basically see questions that seem to them like foreign languages and that's a sign that they are doing well on the test. 😒

  1. This is fantastic! I can completely agree with this because I still have some first graders who see new material because they are testing so high and they get completely discouraged. It's so hard for some of mine to realize that when they see problems that are really hard that means they are doing really well.

  2. Seen this too many times and I'm apart of the state testing machine and it scares me. I understand that data drives instruction, but I think we are going over board with all these assessments. I hope things start to improve in the near future!

Week 5 - Augmented Learning

Do the math.  Scan the code and check your work.  Your results!                                            Addition and Subtraction Fun   Classroom The augmented learning experience that I have created for my students will be done in small groups during math stations or center time. The use of QR codes will allow for students to accomplish the tasks provided in an independent way. I chose a QR activity instead of an augmented reality experience because I felt that QR's would be more user friendly for my target audience (Kindergarten).  My students will be able to see how to videos to reinforce what we have learned in math as far as addition and subtraction is concerned. They will also be able to access some online math adding and subtracting games to exercise their skills. The best activity is the actual need for application of kno...

Week 7 - Multimedia Assessment

Video Assessment I chose to assess my students on the video that I created a few weeks ago for this class about two-dimensional shapes. My students will be watching this video as an introduction to our unit on shapes whether that is whole group or in a small group setting. So I thought, that it would also be a great midpoint or post assessment just to see what they have learned throughout the unit. It's also a great way for them to be accountable for the content of the video. :) I created the assessment using "playposit". Survey/Pole  I chose to create a survey that actually has nothing to do with my current class. Ha! I just recently finished up my end of the year evaluation meeting with my principal and itt went really well! However, aside from Kindergarten teacher, I do have another role in my building and that is Leader of 'Team Building" so-to-speak. Naturally, this role was a part of the end of the year conversation that I had with my principal. She su...
